I don't have a technical degree and job experience. I’m a complete noob to this WordPress thing. Is this for me?

Awesome!

You’re starting with a clean slate, which means you have no bias and are receptive to new concepts. I love that! All you need is the drive, determination, and a bit of imagination to succeed at coding and building websites.

You will start with Intro to Coding & Intro to WordPress Modules - all my beginner students start here.

I’ve also got a special course called Zero to WP Hero inside the course that will take you step-by-step as you build your first website in WordPress. This is the perfect place to start, whether you’re a complete noob or possess some basic skills.

Furthermore, you don’t need coding skills, technical degrees, or fancy titles in the tech industry to crush at this. A lot of my students are in the 40-plus demographic, have never heard of WordPress let alone build a site, but I’m proud to say they’re crushing it!

Why can’t I just use a Page Builder and drag-n-drop themes to build sites? Why do I need to code?

Great questions!

You can absolutely build a WordPress site using page builders and drag-and-drop themes. You don’t need to learn how to code to get a decent-looking website up.

However, if you want to:

💠 Say “yes” to ANY WordPress request, troubleshoot issues, fix a hacked website, add functionality, and build a customized website (without relying on plugins) - you need to learn how to code.

💠 Not waste hours on YouTube and Google to get the header size just right or a color a shade lighter - you need to learn how to code.

Companies with an online presence want to stand out with their branding. Any designer can use plugins and drag-and-drop themes to build a website.

But the developer who thinks of functionality as well as design will get the gig - and an “okay” on her proposal.

Do I need special software to learn how to code & build websites?

Nope. You don’t need to purchase any software to learn how to code & build websites. However, when you’re ready to launch your own website (for business purposes), you’ll need to purchase a domain name (approximately $10-$20/year) and website hosting (approximately $5-$10/month).

What’s the GeekPack Community like? I’m wondering if I’ll fit in because I’m (too old/too young/live in Estonia/no tech skills)?
